I make these things just for fun. Each piece of Sushi is approximately 1cm long and they are made from polymer clay. I upload this sort of stuff mostly on my deviantArt.
My slowly dying computer is not so much forcing me to do more traditional work but I really want to be able to paint well, I'm particularly bad at watercolours so this was a fun wee doodle and I didn't have to put up with my infuriatingly slow computer!
Another attempt at a 3D-ish paper collage. This time I designed an original character rather than a piece of fan art. I think it worked out better and I have to say that it was a lot of fun making her, very girlie and flamboyant, I should probably challenge myself next time and try and create something more atmospheric or serious. (Full view Please!)
Two quick sketches from my wee trip to York last week, one of which was in the National Railway Museum. Spent more time shopping than sketching really, the town looks just like something from Harry Potter! Also spent a day at Chester Zoo. I'm embarrassed at how much fun I had at this zoo because it just shows how little I've traveled to more exotic countries. Just a few sketches here but I did manage to fill up a whole book! Lots of great ideas and inspirations for fun little characters which I hope to create this week - there was this one orangutan that kept doing rolly-pollies!
This one actually started off as a double page sketch but I was just too cold to finish it off, next time I'm going to sit in the cafe across the road to draw to outside of the gallery!
I actually went back to life drawing tonight but the long break - holidays plus canceled classes due to snow - has erm...left me out of practise. Here's hoping next week I'll get back into the swing of things!
In the mean time, I recently found this drawing I did way back in high school, about 6 years ago. I went through this phase of copying out of this Jim Lee comic but I never finished this one. So I touched it up and here it is! If I have another 'off' week, I'll work into this more, colour it and give it a proper background.
Another attempt at this type of '3D' collage. This time it sits in a box frame and is at least half the size of the Moulin Rouge collage. Gigi was on tv the other day which was what inspired me to do this but I really don't think this type of medium has captured the gorgeous design of the original dress worn by Leslie Caron. I will need to design it better next time.
The zombie photos were taken from the Zombie Walk in Glasgow yesterday. I'm not too ashamed to say that I think it is one of the coolest things ever! XD Once a year, hundreds of folk gather dressed as zombies and act like a zombie for about an hour. I went last year too and this year the turnout was much bigger. I'm pretty sure there are walks like this throughout the UK. I also carved a pumpkin which was about the size of a fully grown labrador dog. ^_^
Quick poses, 3 minutes to 30 seconds. I bloomin love quick poses, the model we had last night was really great as well, she gave some really great poses. I'd love to go to an actual gesture drawing class though, when I look at all these American animation blogs filled with gesture drawings, their life models are more like actors and sometimes they are in costume.
Just trying to get them made up soon, it's the first year I've decided to print a batch. I came across some 'Doctor Hoo' fan art a while back and thought it was the cutest thing ever and naturally seen as my Christmas is pretty much centered around Doctor Who nowadays, I figured it would be festive to have this idea. I just need to come up with some sort of greeting to put on it, one filled with puns and cheese. ^_^
